Igniting New Flames: Foodnome's Legacy Carried Forward
A note from Foodnome CEO, Akshay Prabhu
Dear Foodnome Family,
It’s with a full heart and deep appreciation that I inform you that Foodnome is winding down its operation. We have come to realize that the home-cooking movement is a lifetime long one and our work to build local communities across the nation will need stamina.
Rest assured the community will live on and you can still order your favorite homemade meals and support the home cooking movement through cookconnect.com. Read the announcement here.
Over the last 6 years, Foodnome changed so many lives. We have supported hundreds of families of primarily underrepresented communities to break the poverty line and become independent business owners. We have reminded people of their homes, childhoods and sense of humanity. We have connected communities and helped people feel less isolated. We have persevered through a global pandemic, financial instability and hardcore bootstrapping.
The Foodnome family has changed my life and led to so many learnings.
I want to send a special acknowledgment and thank you to my co founders: Kenji, Leo, and Isaac. Your belief in this vision has been an inspiration for me and so many cooks. I cannot overstate how much I have learned from you all and how we couldn’t have been here without your 1000% effort! I will cherish our relentless grind, memories and life long friendships. Thank you form the bottom of my heart.
I am honored to be passing the torch to the COOK Alliance, the non-profit on a mission to be a leading voice for home cooks. The COOK Alliance is working to give home cooks the economic opportunity, power & agency to pursue dignified work from their home kitchens. I will be continuing to stay along for the movement as an advisor.
So what’s next for Akshay?
Cooking has been a part of my life since I was a child. For me food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate. Memories are created over the warmth and aroma of a homemade meal. After hosting hundreds of pop up dinners, staging at restaurants, and helping hundreds of people get their own culinary dreams off the ground, I have developed my own nontraditional cooking methodology: Food Jazz
I’m currently working on consolidating my musings into educational materials focused on teaching people improvisational cooking and creative self sufficiency.

As always, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to staying in touch.
On behalf of the whole foodnome team. I’d like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Be well,
Akshay Prabhu
